Use a shallow tray and put very small pebbles or rocks on its bottom. Then, fill it with water. The water should reach the top of the rocks. Put your potted plants on top.

Damp Towel

Use a wet or damp towel to put it underneath the drainage hole of the plant pot.

Water Your Plants Using a Wine Bottle

You need an empty wine bottle that you will rinse and then fill with water. Stand close to the planter. Turn the wine bottle upside down very quickly. Its neck should be into the soil next to the plant itself. The neck should be at least a few inches under the ground.

Damp Newspaper

In case you have large plants, use several layers of damp newspaper that you’ll put on the top of the soil.

String Watering System

Take a container that you’ll fill with water. Put it next to the plant. Put a cotton string going from the water to the soil. This string which connects the container of water with the plant will carry water to the roots of your plant all the time.

Use Diapers to Keep Your Plants Watered

Remember to re-pot your plant before you leave. Put some diapers on the bottom of the pot. The soil will be moist for several days with their help!
